Why is ranting considered ';getting things off your chest';, when it is in the mind?

or is it in the soul? Why is ranting considered ';getting things off your chest';, when it is in the mind?
Getting things off your chest refers to removing a burden that has been placed on your heart. The mind filters the emotions into words. Why is ranting considered ';getting things off your chest';, when it is in the mind?
This refers to when you are going around with a heavy heart....and then you talk about it and it feels as if an elephant stopped trampling on you.....ranting is probably not the best way to describe this...more like venting.
When you're burdened with something, it feels like you have a weight bearing down on your chest. Venting (not ranting) is a way of easing the mind, which makes it feel like the weight has been lifted. Venting is not considered ';getting things off your chest';...it's considered easing your mind by sharing your problems with someone. ';Getting things off your chest'; is merely an expression that represents the feeling that results from venting. It's very similar to how the expression ';butterflies in your stomach'; is used to represent nervousness. No one actually considers nervousness to be caused by butterflies in their stomach: they clearly know that it's in the mind. ';Butterflies in your stomach'; simply represents the feeling of nervousness.
