What's the difference between ranting and venting? How does a woman decides she needs to rant and when she needs to vent? When a woman ';rants'; on here and/or youtube, is it because she doesn't have man home to ';vent'; to?
Ranting means you expect something to change.
Venting means you are just talking to ';let it out';.
It may mean she has no one at home to rant or vent to, but a respectful women knows most men hate ranting and venting and would more likely rant or vet to a good friend or even their pet. When a woman ';rants'; on here and/or youtube, is it because she doesn't have man home to ';vent'; to?
The word ';rant'; would concure more with your siding with Freud as it means ';to rave'; or ';declaim violentley or extravagantly';. Venting clearly means ';to let off steam'; but does not specific the manner in which its done. So basically you could be ranting and venting at the same time. For your second question I'll answer with another question, ';How do you know she's not ranting or venting because she does have a man at home? Also, I'm curious, what did she have to say about you?
';venting'; is generally more associated with offloading issues they have - eg ';our relationship is falling apart, i've had an argument with my best friend and shes not talking to me, i think im going to fail my exams, my grandpa died and i cant cope...'; that sort of thing. Ranting is generally associated with the less important problems, or things that arent even problems eg ';stupid operator on the phone, keep me waiting for hours on end, im going to make a complaint, im not going to let this go'; that kind of thing that really annoys everyone but women feel the need to complain about it loudly.
you can rant to yourself - its pretty much moaning about anything and everything. but venting is more sentimental and emotional.
Rant, vent, eh, all the same to me. Rants tend to be more angry though I'd think, and venting is more when you're looking for some help.
I rant/vent with the boy a lot, he does the same, but for each of us when we're irritated with the *other*...not so easy to bring it up, and not always even a good idea haha
That's when you go to friends, family, complete strangers on the interweb, get it out, use people as a sounding board a bit, and the either feel better and start to be more rational, never needing to bring it up *or* know it's a big enough issue you actually do want to talk it through with your partner.
If more people would do this, there'd be less fights, I really believe it.
You can tell alot about a person by the question they ask!!! Everyone rants (which as you probably know means going on and on and on about something because they are frustrated by it), everyone vents (which is just about expressing frustration and is usually shorter). What do you guys do when you are frustrated by something??
Any woman who is a compulsive ';ranter,'; is going to have a problem keeping a man, and that can explain why alcohol abuse and divorce rates are going up for married young men.
Who the hell wants to live with that? No way I could.
LOL She is exercising her right to free speech...in much the way you are...
And her ';rants'; or ';vents';, as you call them, are probably for other women to view. It's called ';spreading the word';. It can be done about religion, politics, or whatever.
Well that is why the men here whine and complain all the time. Their wives, gfs, significient others dumped them and they are still mad. Or maybe their moms kicked them out of the house because they figured at 50 years old they should be looking after themselves.
I see ranting as bitching about evrything and venting letting everything off your chest.
yeah?
Even though the majority of ranters here on GWS, and on youtube, are men/boys.
Oh, I have a man to rant and vent to.
It's just that I've got so much love to share...
They are the same things.
i'm not sure, but would you call this question ';ranting'; or ';venting'; ?
yup. But no one said you had to watch her.
