Both religions are against gay marriage. In some parts of the Muslim world people are killed because they are gay. Why do the gay activists only focus on the LDS? Are they scared of the Muslims?

For a lot of reasons. First is that Christianity is probably the dominant religion where a lot of us live, or even are a part of. Second is that, whenever someone uses religion to say being homosexual is wrong, they use Christianity to back up their argument. And thirdly is that the Islamic community is, mainly, of a different nationality, one which a lot of us don't belong to.
Well actually most religions especially Abrahamic faiths all have just about the same moral compass and standards. It would be too much energy focused in on all the religions against this. In America there is mainly one majority religion so people tend to focus on the one that dominates. Also most people don't really understand what islam is. People think of the desert the burka and terrorists with rags on their heads, but many of them live in very different places and don't the same way either. My mother is really close friends with a devout muslim, and some atheist would expect her to be more accepting but she was actually no different than my mother when it comes to morals maybe a bit more religious.

Gay guys being killed in Iran is ******* ridiculous, it's horrible, but...there's not much we CAN do about it.





For one thing they should acknowledge that women can have the same rights as men (some countries in the middle east are better about that then others), and...it might take a while for even that to happen, and if we TRY to talk about it there........you can get killed too, so efforts are (currently) slightly useless.





We don't have much control of what goes on in other countries, we can HOPE they accept it, but..apart from tat, there's not much we can do yet.





As for Christianity, it is the main religion in Canada %26amp; the U.S. , so we target that more so that our countries can have equal rights for gays and lesbians, since we can't fix a problem elsewhere if we haven't fixed it where we are first. That itself is quite hypocritical.





I hope eventually love can exist between two people anywhere without anyone criticizing, but..it is definitely going to take a while.
I'm not gay, but from my perspective you are wrong. In western society Christianity is much more influential than Islam. In addition many Christian denominations actively attack LGBT people. As a result Christians are seen as the natural enemy by LGBT folks.





The LDS Church has shot itself in the foot with it's heavy handed tactics that it used in California. And don't give me that crap about them not being involved!





Cowards? Those are strong words, the kind usually expressed by oppressors prior to their fall. And believe me people like you WILL fall into the dustbin of history and be forgotten.
Muslims will track you down and take you to task for ranting against their religion, Christians believe that God will bring them Victory and feel no need to '; fight back'; other than by making information available and telling people that they are in spiritual danger.





Those who rant against christians are no different the kids on the schoolyard who only pick on the skinny ,weak looking kids.

Last time I checked, the US's demographic religious wise is CHRISTIAN. Not Muslim.





Since the US is NOT a theocracy, not under religious rule %26amp; there is a SEPARATION of Church %26amp; State, religious groups have no business in a STATE issue.





And if you think marriage is only a religious institution, see how far you get marrying in your church without completing/filing/signing %26amp; abiding by the STATE's paperwork %26amp; laws. You're only married in the eyes of your religion %26amp; your Creator, but you will not receive or be protected by the state/federal government benefits that come with MARRIAGE.





You would think, after all the trials %26amp; tribulations this country has been through with discrimination %26amp; unequal treatment of its citizens based on religion, race/skin color, nationality, gender, veteran status, disability, or social status,we would have learned something, right?





Apparently not. Once again, we are discriminating against another group of tax paying, law abiding citizens who are contributing members to our society. 2 consenting adults REGARDLESS of sex should be allowed to marry as long as they meet their state's regulation for marriage. Yet even when they DO, our federal government STILL denies them the full benefits of marriage that are automatically bestowed on straight married couples.





Until the government gets out of this semantics mess of the word ';marriage'; %26amp; issuing marriage licenses for a civil OR religious ceremony, the issue over same sex marriage will continue to be a hot button issue.





As long as the federal government supports DOMA %26amp; usurps the state's authority in determining who is eligible for marriage %26amp; ther rights thereof, there is an inequality. That's why LGBT are challenging DOMA so that our loved ones can be protected. Nothing else other than marriage provides those protections to that couple.





As far as you're remark about us being cowards? You talk tough from behind a computer. When you do something of MERIT, come back %26amp; with your smack talk.
How is it selfish? We are in this country, we have as many rights as a pig. You are saying this ';I think you guys are all stupid hypocrites because you are fighting for your own rights instead of the people in iran!'; Thats about the same as ';We are starving in america, but those people in africa have no food, lets ship all we have to them!'; Seriously, you aren't even making valid points.
Because the people who are Islamic rarely come onto Y!A or they don't make their presence known. Believe me, I know because I've hung around the religion and spirituality section of Y!A and I saw a lot of Christians, less Catholics, and the majority of the section were atheists. Somewhere in there there were others (Buddhists, Wiccans, and Islam was in there, but not as common). So, if they are rare in the section they really belong in, then what makes you think that they'd get on here just to troll the LGBT section? Plus, most, if not all, trolls in this section claim to be Christian.
We care, but can't affect change there. WE have SAY in OUR government and that's what we are working to change FIRST.





If the Muslim community here devoted the same effort and money to denying us our rights here, we'd be on them just like the tax-doging business-calling-itself -a-religion that is the LDS.
We're not thrilled with what Islam does in other nations. But we have no direct influence there. That doesn't mean we approve.





We do have influence here. And the LDS was directly responsible for hundreds of thousands of people losing the right to marry. And we will hold them accountable.
I'm not scared of either. I think the reason people focus in Chrstianity is that it is the prevalent religion in U.S. society. There's really no need to foucs on Muslim faith right now because it is not the dominant religion of the U.S.
Because most of them live in christian nations and are being oppressed by christians, I as an atheist criticize christians but if I was in Iran I'd criticize islam.
They are afraid they are going their heads chopped off. Besides it more fun to make fun of Christians, they have been around longer.
Christianity is the religion personally effecting the majority of english speaking gays.

Because the LDS is so homophobic and don't say they’re not otherwise they would not have spent millions of dollars to get Prop.8 passed

I am sure the Muslims who are gay activists in the middle east are just as hateful toward Islam as gay activists are in the Christian world are against the L.D.S.
