Why do people in the political and religious sections ask dumb trolling questions which just promote ranting?

cos they know people will bite...and they are probably 12 and really bored....Why do people in the political and religious sections ask dumb trolling questions which just promote ranting?
Politics and religion are very sensitive subjects in which people tend to have strong beliefs over and take very personally. They also play a huge role in many people's lives.

Therefore, any strong stance on an issue is bound to incite emotional reaction from the opposition and is perceived as an attack on their beliefs, even if it is just constructive criticism. Some misinformed and deceitful people will go out of their way to distort the issues in order to favor their slant just for kicks. People inevitably take sides and try to shout down their ';competition.'; Political discourse has historically been and continues to be akin to a contact sport.

Then too, some people just want the attention since they lack any self-esteem and have little going for them in their otherwise pathetic and mundane lives. Why do people in the political and religious sections ask dumb trolling questions which just promote ranting?
Hello,

Quite often I see people use the word ';ranting'; especially when they are losing the argument badly. Many answers to foolish questions are well thought out and cited. Often the trolling questions seem to get the most answers so as ridiculous as they may be, there is indeed that market so to speak.

If I ask a question like a critique on certain chapters of Henry VIII's Defense Of The Seven Sacraments or something on particular Canon laws, I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 answers but if I say something like the Pope is the Anti-Christ or if a time machine were built, I'd assasinate Martin Luther before Hitler then I'd get a barrage of 50 + answers... for my personal entertainment!

Cheers,

Michael Kelly
If you're unfamiliar with the guidelines, you should read them (link, bottom of most pages).

Notice that non-questions are a violation that should be Reported.

Why?

Some people like to rile up others. Some are deluded enough to think they're ';getting people to think.'; Some are bored.

I must admit, I fall prey to them often enough. (MORE than 'enough' I suppose)

Dunno why, but ranting is just FUN.
like what???
