If both pa rants are schizophrenic what Chance would a child have of not getting the disease?

Children of 2 schizophrenic parents run a 35-40% risk of developing this devastating condition. In answer to your question, then, the child would have about 6 chances in 10 of being free from schizophrenia.

The chance of NOT having the disease is greater than having it. But is is significant:

40% chance of getting it=that leaves a 60% chance of not getting it.If both pa rants are schizophrenic what Chance would a child have of not getting the disease?
I don't know exactly but I would think the chances of getting it would be higher than normal. I have a friend who has it and it literally runs in his family on his mother's side.

He has it. His mother had it. His uncle and an aunt had it. So if two parents have it I would think that would be slim odds of not getting!
